Design for the new Bedford Museum and Cecil Higgins Art Gallery - 20/01/2010

Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams have been appointed as architects for the redevelopment and amalgamation of the Cecil Higgins Arts Gallery, Bedford Museum and Bedford Galleries into a single attraction. The Bedford Museum housed in an old brewery, and adjacent Cecil Higgins Gallery have come together under a single management and are to be joined into a single attraction, along with the recently refurbished Bedford Galleries.

A new single entrance shall be created, the circulation addressed and gallery spaces refurbished to create crisp and modern spaces for the new organisation. New build elements also shall include an extension for archives, storage and conservation studios.

Design work is currently underway and incorporates architecture, exhibition design, landscape and rebranding for the new museum and gallery.
