Our congratulations go to Donald Buttress, who has been awarded the OBE for services to the conservation of cathedrals in the 2008 New Year Honours List.
Donald, who is one of the original founders of what is now Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams Ltd, has played an important role in conservation architecture and is widely recognised for his outstanding work at a number of the country’s cathedrals. Notably his work at Westminster Abbey, was one of the most significant conservation projects undertaken on the building in its 900 year history.
Now semi-retired Donald retains his links to the practice as consultant, working on projects such as the Queen Mother’s memorial in the Mall, in association with Donald Insall.
Commenting on the award Geoff Alsop, Managing Director, said; “This is a very well deserved recognition of Donald`s life’s work in conservation architecture. He has always been a strong character within the practice, and his influence remains apparent in the specialist work undertaken by some of our teams.”
