A new £6.5M Police Station has opened this month in Newark, Nottinghamshire replacing older facilities that were no longer fit for purpose. The new two storey station has over 2000m2 floor space, and comprises of front of house facilities for the public, office space, a state of the art custody suite. A separate victim support unit is housed in a smaller building to the rear so centralising the police’s facilities on one site.
Architects Buttress Fuller Alsop Wiliams have taken the opportunity to give Newark a modern facility whose contemporary design has a strong civic presence. Built around a courtyard with a highly glazed façade the project won praise from CABE for its design quality.
Nottinghamshire Police Chief Constable Steve Green said: “It has always been my ambition to provide Newark with the station it deserves; I am delighted with the new facility”
